How to Choose and Hang a Calligraphy Panel
Choosing a calligraphy panel or tile work is both an aesthetic and a spiritual decision. Here is a practical path: 1. Choose the text: Basmala, a verse, the divine names, or a Sufi concept (Hu, Vav). Its meaning should suit the space: a blessing at the entrance, a theme of knowledge/patience in a study. 2. Set the scale to the space: A large empty wall suits a celi (bold) composition; a narrow niche suits a small, vertical panel. Leave 'breathing' space around the work. 3. Consider the light: Wood and gold gain depth in soft, side-cast light. Avoid direct sun (risk of both glare and fading). 4. Match materials: Walnut/ebony suit warm rooms; blue-and-white tile looks well on airy, bright walls. 5. Height: The centre of the work should sit slightly above eye level (about 150–160 cm). At Arakiye every work is one of a kind; its measurements and technique appear on the product page, and custom orders are possible.
